FOLLOW ME TO THE STARS

The John Glenn Astronomy Park (JGAP) is nestled within the enchanting landscapes of Hocking Hills State Park. This hidden gem is a sanctuary for stargazers, as it's one of the last remaining places in Ohio that is a dark sky location.

Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, the park hosts engaging programs on clear weekend nights, providing an exceptional opportunity to unveil the mysteries of the night sky. A prominent feature of JGAP is its remarkable observatory, where guests can partake in an awe-inspiring journey through the cosmos with the aid of a telescope. Alternatively, they can simply recline on a blanket in the open field, letting the celestial beauty overhead envelop them in a blanket of stars.

The park pays homage to the legendary Ohio native, John Glenn, a decorated Military Pilot, US Senator, and, most notably, the first American astronaut to orbit the Earth. His pioneering spirit and enduring legacy infuse the park with a sense of wonder and adventure.

My experiences at JGAP have been unforgettable. I've forged new friendships under the stars and, on occasion, shared the magic of capturing the night sky with curious visitors who have never embarked on such a photographic journey. I've also had the privilege of guiding novice photographers in their quest to capture their very first night image. JGAP is a place where the cosmos comes alive, and the bonds formed here are as enduring as the stars themselves.
